The story of Busuioacea de Bohotin is lost in the mists of time, it is said to be thousands of years old, that it was the wine of Stephen the Great, that there was very little of it originally, just a few dozen butts, and that very little wine was made and only brought out at special events, which made it memorable, unmemorable. We propose you to have a memorable experience with this wine and enjoy the flavors that have delighted important personalities in the history and culture of Romania and beyond.

Grapes were harvested by hand with great care, at a sugar content of at least 195g/l., then destemmed without crushing. The grapes were cooled to a temperature of 10°C and then macerated in the press for 6-8 hours. The must is obtained in a controlled atmosphere using a short, low-pressure pressing cycle. Decanting of the must was done gravitationally, cold. The must was fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks.

Its name comes from the strong basil flavors that the wine enjoys and the area where it was discovered. The aroma of the native rose Busuioaca de Averești is intense, a delicate blend of notes of wild flowers, roses, and ripe citrus – making this wine a “ballet of tastes.” Serve well chilled (8-10⁰C), good to pair with sweet and sour dishes and desserts: cakes, muffins, cakes.

Averesti Nativ Busioaca de Bohotin

Harvest: The grapes were carefully hand-harvested, with great care, at a sugar content of at least 195g/l., then destemmed without crushing. The grape berries were cooled to a temperature of 10°C and then introduced for maceration in the press for 6-8 hours.

Vinification: White and rosé wines: After gravity decanting for 24 hours, the must was fermented in small vessels at 12°C for 21 days.
Red wines: Maceration took place at a temperature of 22-28°C for 15 days with slight cooling, initially at a temperature of 14°C. Towards the end of maceration-fermentation, when the wine is transferred to fermentation tanks, malolactic fermentation is initiated, which occurs at a temperature of 18-20°C.

Manifest: The Cucuteni culture has, over time, created, alongside the mystery of civilization, a local specificity and numerous unmistakable visual landmarks specific to the area where the grapes of the Averești domain grow. From this visual culture, we have chosen a few elements: the symbol of the Harvest, the symbol of the Hills, and the symbol of Protection. Under the sign of these three symbols, interdependent through their fragility and balance, lies WINE.

Collection: “Nativ,” a range that, as the name suggests, is the 100% natural expression of the Averești terroir. Defining the style for NATIV wines from the Averești domain is the result of meticulous work, precise selection of micro-terroirs and plots, as well as winemaking techniques.

All of this experience has transformed into a selection of wines that faithfully reflect the classic expression of tradition, character, and nobility of Averești Domain’s wines. Cared for and protected, respected through labor, and ennobled by history, the 8 varieties transform simply and naturally into fresh and refined wines. Zghihara, Busuioaca, Rose, Traminer, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Aligote, and Feteasca Neagră, all authentic “from Averești,” are wines that never forget to speak of old, long-forgotten values.
